Water Recycling:
All water used for material processing at our Taghart Quarry Washplant is recycled. The silt water from the Washplant is pumped to a settlement pond, and after settlement the clean water is piped to a storage pond for reuse in the plant. An Oil/Water separator is installed at the garage where machine repairs are carried out. All surface water from the quarry is routed to settlement and filter beds before finally being released to the water course. This discharge water is regularly tested to ensure we comply with all environmental regulations.
Raw Materials:
At our quarry sites, we reuse and repurpose all crushed aggregate products. When our quarries are blasted, all produce has a use – there is no waste! From smaller particles of dust to larger stone, aggregates are used in the production of our precast products or delivered to customers as one of our crushed aggregate or sand products.
Recycling:
All O’Reilly Group production facilities have areas for recyclable waste material, which includes timber, plastic and steel on-site. Each material has its own designated area in the yard with clear signage to avoid cross contamination. All recyclable waste is place neatly in their area and a waste removal company comes fortnightly to take it to a recycling plant. The Group’s Environmental Officer has done training days with all staff outdoors regarding the recycling system in place to ensure it is done correctly.
LED Lighting:
We have upgraded all manufacturing plants to low energy LED lighting to reduce our carbon footprint. This is highly effective during the winter months when days are shorter, and more lighting is required throughout our production facilities. The low energy option throughout all facilities allows the O’Reilly Group to protect the planet in our daily operations.
