NATIONAL TRAIN CONTROL CENTRE – IRISH RAIL

Project
Main Contractor

Irish Rail’s National Train Control Centre at Heuston Station, Co. Dublin
Purcell Construction

O’Reilly Concrete were subcontracted by Purcell Construction to design, manufacture and supply the entire precast frame for the National Train Control Centre at Heuston Station.

This project was one of our biggest precast frame projects in 2020. The new 5-storey building with partial basement, situated within the railway yard of Heuston Station, is the National Signalling Control Centre for Irish Rail.

The building is split over five floors covering 5,500 sqm. In addition to the National Train Control Centre, this building hosts the metropolitan unit of An Garda Síochána and the traffic management section of Dublin City Council. The control centre is expected to manage the movement of over 250,000 trains per year. The centre will enable the growth of Irish Rail’s network in futureproofing the signalling of the railway for generations to come.

O’Reilly Concrete’s precast floors, walls, stairs, columns and beams have been used for the creation of this key infrastructural development. We are delighted to be involved in such an impactful build and we look forward to seeing the national benefits the control centre will bring to Ireland’s public transport system.
